Hollow Parlor Movers
Light-filled living room with pale walls and a wooden floor, cleared ahead of a move.

Home, studio & single-item moving

We move the awkward things carefully.

Narrow stairwells, third-floor walk-ups, a marble table nobody wants to lift twice. We survey the route, wrap on site, and carry it once.

Crew size
Two to five movers, matched to the volume and the stair count.
Notice we prefer
Around ten days, so lifts and parking can be booked properly.
Days we run
Weekdays from early, plus Saturday slots each week.

What we move

Four ways people usually book us. Pick the closest one — the quote is built from volume, access and date, not from a package name.

01

Whole-home moves

Studios through four-bedroom houses. We walk both properties on the morning, protect floors and door frames, dismantle standard flat-pack beds and wardrobes, then rebuild them in the right rooms before we leave.

Good to know: label boxes by destination room, not contents. It saves roughly an hour of unloading.

02

Single awkward items

A sideboard, a cast-iron tub, a two-metre canvas, a sofa that came in before the balcony rail went up. We measure the tightest point of the route first and tell you honestly if it has to go out through a window.

Good to know: send a photo of the doorway and the item — we can usually confirm the method before visiting.

03

Studios & small offices

Workshops, ceramics studios, photography kit and small teams. Fragile and powered items travel in their own crates, cabling is bagged per desk, and we can run the move across an evening so trading resumes the next morning.

Good to know: tell us which two items must be usable first. Those load last and come off first.

04

Storage runs & clearances

Moving part of a home into a unit, bringing it back, or emptying a property after a tenancy. Items going to storage are inventoried and wrapped for long stays rather than for a twenty-minute drive.

Good to know: we separate keep, store and dispose piles with you on site before anything is loaded.

Move day

Hour by hour, so nothing surprises you

A typical two-bedroom move within the same area. Longer routes shift the afternoon, but the shape of the day stays the same.

07:30

Walkthrough and route check

We arrive, confirm what is going and what stays, and agree the carry route. Anything already damaged is noted with you so there is no argument later.

08:00

Protection goes down

Floor runners, door-frame padding and corner guards. Mirrors, glass tops and artwork are wrapped and crated on site rather than in the van.

09:00

Dismantling and loading

Beds and flat-pack wardrobes come apart, fixings are bagged and taped to their frames. Heavy, square items load first; fragile and last-needed items ride high and last.

12:00

Final sweep

Cupboards, lofts, the meter cupboard and the garden shed get a second look with you before the doors close.

13:30

Unload by room

Boxes land in the room written on the label. Beds are rebuilt first so the evening is possible even if the kitchen is still in crates.

16:00

Sign-off

Protection comes up, packing debris leaves with us, and we walk the property with you before the crew stands down.

Questions

Asked before most bookings

How far ahead should I book?

Around ten days is comfortable for a flat or small house, and it gives us time to arrange lift bookings or a parking suspension. Short-notice moves are often possible midweek — ask rather than assume.

What happens if it rains on the day?

The move goes ahead. Upholstery and mattresses get waterproof covers, cartons are shuttled under a canopy at the van door, and extra runners go down inside. Only genuine safety conditions, such as ice on an external stair, cause us to stop and reschedule.

Can I pack some rooms myself and leave the rest to you?

Yes, and it is the most common arrangement. People usually pack books, clothes and kitchenware themselves and leave glassware, artwork and electronics to the crew. Tell us which rooms you want covered and we price only those.

How are fragile and valuable items handled?

Mirrors, glass and framed work are wrapped and fitted into purpose-made crates on site. Small valuables — documents, jewellery, keys and medication — should travel with you rather than in the van, and we will remind you on the walkthrough.

Do you arrange parking permits or lift bookings?

We tell you exactly what we need: a bay long enough for a Luton van near the entrance, and a booked service lift where a building requires one. Applications are made by the resident or the building manager, so we send the vehicle dimensions and timings you will be asked for.

When is payment due, and what if completion slips?

A deposit holds the date, with the balance due once the final sweep is signed off. If keys are released late, waiting time starts after the first free hour and we will confirm the moment it begins — you will never find it on an invoice unannounced.

Send your dates and we will come back with a price

Enough detail to quote properly, nothing more. We reply with a written figure and the survey slot we would use to confirm it.

Access notes that change the price

  • Stairs and floors How many flights at each end, and whether there is a lift the crew may use.
  • Where the van can stand Distance from the door, plus any height barrier, gate or timed restriction.
  • The tightest doorway Usually a hallway turn or a bathroom door — worth measuring before you write.
  • Anything unusually heavy Safes, pianos, stone tops, aquariums and workshop machinery need specialist gear.

We use your details only to answer this enquiry. A survey — in person or by video — confirms the figure before any deposit is taken.
